Like many French sites Saint-Fargeau Castle is closed during lunchtime 12.00 – 14.00 h. This means you have to plan your visit around these hours. If you are planning to visit the History show you can visit the castle in the afternoon so you can than go to the park afterwards, bring your picnic and enjoy the show after your meal. The show will begin around 22:30 h. on Friday and Saturday nights in July and August and lasts for 1.30 hours.
You can combine your visit with visiting Guedelon, the building site of a medieval castle in the same area. A good way to spend the two hours is actually having lunch in the lovely medieval centre of Saint-Fargeau.
It is also possible to take a ride in a stagecoach around the Castle’s Park.

Some areas in the Castle can only be visited with accompanied groups; The restored and furnished apartments that you can only visit with a guide are the Entrance hall, the Billiard room, the Drawing room, the Dining room and the most interesting one, the Library. Even when you don’t understand French too well it is advisable to take the tour, otherwise you will miss all these beuatifull rooms.
Don't forget to visit the attics, if you can't find the stairs, just ask at the shop where to go.
